The Kebbi State Police Command has refuted claims of unlawful detention of the leader of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Engr. Sufiyanu Bala.
In a statement yesterday in Birnin Kebbi by its spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, the command said the ADC leader was in police custody strictly in compliance with a valid remand order issued by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Birnin Kebbi.
Usman said the court directed Bala’s remand pending his appearance yesterday for further proceedings.
Usman said the command confirmed that on the same day, Bala requested medical attention, which was promptly granted by the court and was taken to a medical facility in Birnin Kebbi, where he is receiving appropriate care.
The police command reiterated its respect for the rule of law and strict adherence to lawful court orders and warned the general public to disregard misinformation about the detention of the ADC leader.
