There is serious ongoing internal wrangling in the Enugu State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, following the refusal of some of its serving lawmakers to respect the administrative structure of the party.
Our investigations revealed that some members of the party currently representing their constituencies at the national and state levels have refused to work with the leaders of the party in the state.
It was further gathered that some lawmakers of the party at the National Assembly have refused to identify with the activities of the party at the state and have refused to finance the activities of the party.
Recall that the Labour Party surprised everybody when it came second in the last governorship election and won majority of the seats at National and State Assemblies.
But there are strong indications that the wrangling in the Labour Party may scuttle the chances of the party winning future elections in the state.
The Enugu State chairman of the Labour Party in Enugu, Barrister Casnir Ugwu told our correspondent in an exclusive interview that the party was disappointed in many ways.
Agbo, who was reacting to a question on the relationship of the party with some of its members that won elections, expressed dismay that some of them are working against the party.
“Thanks for the question. The party is disappointed in many ways. The worst are HOA members of which six of them are working against the party. The National Assembly members are just doing it alone without party input. I am highly annoyed,” he stated.
