The death has been announced of Pa Simon Ekele Unwanaji, the father of Peter Agbo Ekele, Editor of LEADERSHIP Newspaper.

Pa Unwanaji departed this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, after a brief illness. He was 80 years old.

In a heartfelt statement signed by Peter Agbo Ekele on behalf of the family, it was noted that “Pa Unwanaji was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.”

Born on September 3, 1944, in Idiri Okpoga, Okpokwu local government area of Benue State, Pa Unwanaji was a devout Christian whose life was a testament to his unwavering faith and commitment to justice. He was a role model for countless individuals in his community and beyond.

Pa Unwanaji is survived by his devoted wife, six children, and 21 grandchildren, including his son, Peter Agbo Ekele, who will miss him dearly.

“His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched,” the statement continued.

The family has announced that Pa Simon will be laid to rest on December 13, 2024, in his hometown of Idiri Okpoga.
