The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has allayed concerns over Nigeria’s preparedness to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), assuring that the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, will be ready for the continental championship.

The assurance followed an inspection of ongoing renovation works at the IBB International Golf and Country Club by the club’s leadership and LGAN President, Lami Ahmed.

The championship is scheduled to hold from November 2 to 7, 2026, at the Abuja golf course, which has been closed to golfing activities for more than a year to allow for renovation works being undertaken by the Federal Government.

During the inspection, the delegation assessed the condition of the greens and selected holes, with officials expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded ahead of the tournament.

Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, expressed confidence that the facility would be ready to stage the championship.

Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Peter Deshi, also disclosed that the club is expected to reopen for golfing activities within the next month.

The rehabilitation programme extends beyond the golf course, with renovation work also being carried out on the clubhouse and other facilities to improve the overall environment ahead of the continental event.

Speaking after the inspection, Ahmed commended the Board of Trustees and the Interim Management Committee for the progress made so far.

She also urged the African golfing community and sponsors of the tournament to look forward to the championship, expressing confidence in the preparations for the event.
