Themed ‘Can We Breathe’, Life In My City (LIMCAF) 2025 edition is spotlighting the conducive spaces and circumstances that keeps the human spirit alive amidst daunting and near-suffocation challenges.
Nigerian artists both male and female not more than 35 years old, and foreigners who’ve lived in Nigeria for a minimum of five years, are encouraged to submit visual, sculptural, graphics, video art, textile, drawing and photography artworks that embody the aforementioned theme.
Entries will vie for the ‘Best Photography – Chinelo Chime Prize’ (N1,000,000), ‘Best Painting’ (N500,000), ‘Best Sculpture’ (N500,000), ‘Best Ceramics’ (N500,000), ‘Best Graphics’ (N500,000), ‘Best Textile Art’ (N500,000), ‘Best Drawing’ (N500,000), ‘Most Creative Female Artist’ (N500,000), ‘Best Entry Artist Living With Disabilities’ (N500,000), and consolation prizes worth N50,000.
An award worth $2,000 will be awarded to ‘The Artist of the Year’, whilst ‘Professor El Anatsui International Travel Prize’ will be conferred on the top six artists of the edition.
Other endowed prizes to be won at the festival include, ‘Justice Anthony Aniagolu Prize of Originality’ (N300,000), ‘Dr Pius Okigbo Prize for Technical Proficiency’ (N200,000), ‘Mfom Usoro Prize for Best Entry from Uyo Center’ (N200,000), ‘VinMartin Ilo Prize for Best Entry from Enugu Region’ (N200,000), ‘Felicia Okoroafor Prize for Most Promising Female Artist’ (N200,000), ‘Agoreyo Armstrong Prize for Best Entry with Waste Paper’ (N150,000), and ‘Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo Prize for Best Entry by a Special Needs Artist’ (N150,000).
