The interim National Chairman, Labour party (LP), Senator Nenadi Usman, has called on women to build bridges of justice, prosperity, and empowerment across continents.
Usman made the call at the graduation ceremony of the Lois Dewberry Leadership Institute at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia where she presented a paper titled, “A Legacy of Leadership Across Continents: Reflecting on the Past, Conquering the Future.”
She congratulated the National Organisation of Black Elected Legislative (NOBEL) on their 40-year anniversary, commending their efforts in shaping democracy and empowering women leaders.
The LP chairman emphasised the importance of women in high leadership roles in Africa, Europe, and America, noting a decline in recent decades.
Usman shared her own journey of breaking barriers in Nigerian politics, highlighting the importance of education, resilience, and purpose in achieving success.
She urged the graduating women to see their certificates as a beginning, not an end, and to aspire to leadership roles in society.
“Reflecting on the historical achievements of women leaders such as Cleopatra VII, Empress Wu Zetian, Queen Isabella I, and Queen Elizabeth, I challenge today’s women to rise to the occasion and lead.” Usman said.
She noted a troubling decline in women occupying apex positions in leadership and business in the 21st century, emphasising the need for women to continue breaking barriers and achieving greatness.
