Mace Club Elects Odunmbaku As 12th President

History was made in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as the Mace Club of Nigeria elected Mace (Chief) Aliu Ajani Odunmbaku, PhD, as its 12th President in a keenly contested but peaceful election.

The well-attended exercise drew members from across the country and was conducted by a three-member Mace Electoral Commission chaired by Mace Soji Sogbolu, alongside Maces Babatunde Oduwaiye and Temitope Lasilo.

Other executives elected include Mace Toyin Obatosin, Esq, as Vice President; Mace Engr. Jide Adebayo as General Secretary; and Mace Edward Lasilo as Director of Socials and Public Relations.

Founded on April 1, 1984, in Abeokuta by 15 young men with a shared vision of friendship, leadership development, and community service, the Mace Club of Nigeria has grown into one of the country’s most respected social organisations.
Odunmbaku’s emergence reflects the Club’s long-standing tradition of democratic values, transparency, and adherence to its constitution.

A Chief Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Odunmbaku is widely regarded for his academic excellence, leadership capacity, and commitment to service.

In his acceptance speech, the new President expressed gratitude to God and appreciated members for the trust reposed in him and his team. He pledged to run an inclusive, transparent administration anchored on unity and strict compliance with the Club’s constitution.

He also promised to strengthen the Club’s institutional framework, deepen member engagement, and enhance its reputation through effective leadership and sound administration.

Members of the Club have expressed confidence in the new leadership, describing the executive council as composed of individuals of integrity and proven capacity to build on past achievements and chart a progressive path forward.

The new Executive Council was sworn in during the Club’s March 15, 2026 monthly meeting, marking the commencement of its two-year tenure.
