Maimuna’s Memoir: At The Till: My Bank And I

I try to avoid using my bank card whenever I can because sometimes my bank can be a piece of work! I once used a POS with my card and while the money was transferred my card declined! To think of the nightmare I went through to get my money back, it was frustrating to say the least. I had to visit my bank to make a complaint. I thought it would be immediately reversed since the card had declined and the money was still transferred, but no, I had to fill out a form and wait for almost a month before the money was reversed. Ridiculous right? So, back to my account at the till. As I was saying, I pulled out my purse and carefully counted out the cash, handing it over to the salesman, “ Fifty-five thousand three hundred Naira,” I told him. He counted it meticulously, then opened the cash tray to place the money according to their denomination. Pausing a little, hand on the tray, he turned to face me stating, “Ma, there is no forty Naira change.”
