Maimuna’s Memoir: Such Chivalry!

Its also not so encouraging to hear women being talked down upon even in the movies we watch. What are they teaching the younger ones? For example in some countries, women are treated with respect most times. For example, you’re a woman coming behind a man as he is about to go through the doors, he would open the door for you and pause by the side to let you ahead. Such chivalry.

Of course I’m not saying we don’t do that here, of course we have lots of chivalrous men here, but we need more! Perhaps it should be included in the school curriculum. Not just on how to respect women, but teach respect, etiquette and morals in general. Its even good if a handbook on this is published for schools.

Imagine its so bad that Altine told me a joke that she heard somewhere and it goes like this: “If a man opens the car door for a lady, is one of two things, either the lady is new or the car is!” It was hilarious. But, I should stop here for today and give a shout out to all those gentlemen out there, keeping treating ladies with respect!
