Making Money As A Janitor

Janitors typically make their money through various means. Here are some common ways janitors earn income:

Working or habitation in an environment free of first, germs and bacteria is germain for the health and well-being of everyone in the society.

Hence, Corporate bodies and individuals tend to request the services of experienced janitors to achieve the purpose of working and living in a cleaner environment.

The role of janitors is important as I’m demanded as they can work as employees for companies, organizations, schools, hospitals, government agencies, or cleaning services. They receive a regular salary or hourly wage, usually based on factors such as job responsibilities, experience, location, and industry standards. The pay may be enhanced by benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Speaking to Managing Director, Koplus Integrated Services Joseph Akolade he disclosed that janitors can also work as independent contractors or as self-employed individuals.

“It’s easier for them to negotiate contracts and provide cleaning services to clients on a contractual basis and also set their rates, typically based on the type of service they are to provide, the length of the contract, and any additional specialized services they will be offering,” he stated.

He, however, said anyone can take up this type of profession on a part-time or temporary work depending on the organization and they are to work at or may negotiate for part-time or temporary positions, which are often available in industries that require periodic or seasonal cleaning, such as event venues, halls, schools as in some cases the part-time worker is typically paid on an hourly basis.

It is worth noting that Janitors who acquire specialized cleaning skills and provide Specialized services, such as cleaning highrise building glass, window cleaning, carpet cleaning, or floor refinishing, may charge higher rates for these additional services.

As a result, by expanding their skill set and offering specialized services, janitors can increase their earning potential.

Akolade asserted that, training programmes or obtaining certifications in janitorial services can enhance their qualifications and potentially increase their earning power as there exist Specialized certification programmes available for janitors in specific areas, such as environmental cleaning or health care facilities. This is an avenue for advancement in cleaning services while advancing to higher positions within a cleaning organisation, such as a supervisory or managerial role. These positions often come with higher salaries and additional responsibilities.

It is imperative to note that the income of janitors can vary depending on factors such as geographic location, level of experience, industry, and the size of the employer.

The MD, Koplus Janitorial service reveals that he is aware of some set of janitors who receive between N100,000 and more as janitors employed in government agencies, international organizations, or those working with high class and wealthy in society people may receive higher wages and additional benefits compared to some in the private sector.
