Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was at weekend received by a large crowd of supporters in Kano following his return from the All Progressives Congress National Convention.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, thousands of party loyalists converged at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport and major entry points into the city to welcome the governor.

The reception caused heavy traffic along key roads, as supporters chanted slogans and waved party flags, bringing movement in parts of the metropolis to a standstill.

Addressing the crowd, Yusuf described the turnout as humbling and energising, pledging to sustain people-oriented policies and accelerate development across critical sectors of the state.

“I want to use this opportunity to reassure the good people of Kano State that this administration will continue to provide dividends of democracy in all critical areas,” he said.

The governor also pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attract more federal interventions to the state.

He urged party members to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections, expressing confidence that the APC would secure victory in 2027.

The statement noted that the reception was organised by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Kano chapter, and attracted party executives, political office holders, traders and other stakeholders.

It added that the crowd took several hours to escort the governor from the airport to the Government House, a journey that typically lasts about 15 minutes.

The government described the turnout as a sign of growing support for the administration and Kano’s importance in the party’s national calculations.
