Man Died While Stealing Fuel At NNPC Mega Station In Borno

The Borno State Police Command has discovered a lifeless body of one Ayuba Hamza at the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) mega retail station opposite GSM village in Maiduguri, who died while siphoning fuel from an underground tank.

Ayuba apparently fell into the underground tank and died while stealing fuel with a rope and a bucket.

A statement issued to journalists on Friday in Maiduguri by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nahum Daso, reiterated reiterated the Borno Stare Police Command’s commitment towards active prevention of crime in and around Maiduguri municipality against thr backdrop of recurring cases of vandalism, theft, and gangsterism in the State.

The statement further announced other crime busting feats recorded by the Police Command.

“On the 11th of March, 2024 at about 2315HRS One Musa Ibrahim of London Chiki area of Maiduguri reported that on the same date, a body was found lifeless at NNPC Mega filling station opposite GSM Village in Maiduguri. A team of policemen rushed to the scene and it was discovered that the deceased, one Ayuba Hamza was siphoning fuel from an underground tank with rope and bucket, then he fell inside the tank and died, the victim’s corpse was evacuated to Umaru Shehu ultra modern hospital for autopsy.”

Continuing, the statement said, “On the 9th of March, 2024 at about 0800HRS, a case was reported to Bulumkutu Division by One Yahaya Tahir and (4) others that, on the same date at about 0030HRS, One Mohammed Mamman Of the same address with one Sabo Abubakar Aged 19YRS and (5) Others of Baga Road Maiduguri, Armed with Sticks, Axe, Hammer and Knives, attacked them in their house, as a result they sustained various degrees of injuries.

“A team of Policemen visited the scene, victims were taken to the hospital, investigation further led to arrest of the suspects.

“On 14th of March 2024, at about 0941HRS, two suspects were arrested for vandalizing an Electrical Transformer and stealing of Amoured Cables at Khaddamari Road by Madinatu Junction Maiduguri. Investigation further led to the recovery of thirty (30) yards of amoured cables. Suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

“The command will not relent in the chase of criminals and assures commitment of safety and welfare of the good people of Borno State especially within the Ramadan period as adequate deployment has been made in strategic locations,” the statement added.
