Man Dies After Falling Into Well In Kano

A 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u has lost his life after he fell into an abandoned well at the CBN Quarters along Hadejia Road in Kano.

Confirming the incident, the Kano State Fire Service stated that they received a distress call at about 10:35 p.m. from one of their personnel, PFS II Sabo Wada Abdullahi.

Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi said a rescue team was immediately mobilised and arrived at the scene by 10:50 p.m.

“When they arrived, they found a 60-year-old man named Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku who had fallen into a well,” said Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service.

“The victim was rescued unconscious and conveyed to Sir Sunusi Hospital for medical examination, where doctors confirmed his death,” Abdullahi narrated.

He explained that the victim was driving the car of the first wife of the Minister of Defense and he came to drop some guests at one house nearby the place of incidence.

Adding, “The victim came out with the intention of urinating in a place where he did not know there is unuseful well and some debris.

“In that process, he marched one side of the well cover, as a result of that, he drowned in the water which led to his loss of life,” Abdullahi added.

The body of the deceased was later handed over to Corporal Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division, Kano.
