Clement who hails from Uje Village of the local government, allegedly defiled the minor in a compound he shared with the victim’s family on Sunday, 8th December, 2024.

The 29-year-old mother of the victim who narrated the ordeal, told our correspondent that the man took advantage of her daughter and lured her into a room where the alleged crime was committed.

According to her, “I was washing clothes at the back of our residence on Secretariat Road, Oju when my daughter approached me, struggling to walk and complaining of pain in her private parts.

“When I asked her what happened, she said our neighbour (Clement) put his hand inside her ‘bom-bom.

“When I opened her private part, I discovered that it was swollen and reddish with wounds and I called my neighbours and my brother in-laws where they advised me to invite the police who came and arrested him”, the mother explained.

According to the victim’s mother, despite a medical examination conducted at a hospital within the local government area, the Oju Division of the Nigeria Police Force refused to disclose the report, stating that it was not meant for family consumption.

She further told our correspondent that the case has been transferred to the Command headquarters in Makurdi, the state capital.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Catherine Anene who confirmed the incident said, “Yes the suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
