Man In Police Net For Flogging School Teacher To Death In Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man, Nnajiofor Nweke, for alleged murder after flogging a teacher of Alihame Mixed Secondary School in Agbor town to death on Wednesday.

According to the Police Command, Nweke’s son (name withheld) was said to be a student of the school where he was reported to after he alongside other students allegedly stole two kegs of palmwine.

Taking to his X platform (formerly Twitter), the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, on Thursday, said after the students were punished by the school authorities for the offence of theft, Nweke went to the school with a cane to protest the punishment of his son by flogging teachers and one of them slumped and died in the melee.

“On 18th October 2023, the suspect Nnajiofor Nweke, a father of one student (name withheld) at Alihame Mixed secondary School Agbor, on the said date, his son alongside some other students went to a palm wine shop and allegedly stole two kegs of palm wine. The matter was reported to the school authorities and the students were flogged. The suspect came to the school in protest, with a cane, and started flogging teachers in the school. One of the teachers slumped and died.
