Man In Police Net For Stabbing Father To Death

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemele, for allegedly stabbing his father simply identified as Chiemele, to death.

The late 68-year-old Chiemele resided at Oba Kabiru Street in the Isolo area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the tragic incident was due to a misunderstanding between the father and his son which led to the death of the man on Thursday evening.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the murder case and the arrest of the suspect to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.

He remarked that the murder case was reported by one of the deceased’s children at the Aswani police division.

“On Oct 3, 2024 at about 22:30hrs, a complainant reported at Aswani Division that at about 21:30hrs, he received a phone call from his father’s neighbour at Oba Kabiru Street, Isolo, Lagos that his father, Mr Chiemele ‘m’ aged 68 was having a misunderstanding with his son, one Chibunna Chiemele aged 25 who is living with his father in the same house,” the Police spokesman said.

He further stated that on receiving the phone call, he quickly rushed down to his father’s house at Isolo where he met his lifeless body in a pool of blood.

“A team of investigators visited the scene and a knife was seen with blood stains lying near the body; photographs were taken and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Isolo where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.

“The corpse has been deposited at General Hospital Mortuary, Isolo,” Hundeyin said.

The police image maker added that the suspect has been arrested and confessed to the crime, adding that investigation on the matter is ongoing.
