Manchester United are pushing forward with negotiations to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with talks advancing rapidly between the two clubs.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League giants are nearing an agreement with the Brazilian’s camp, though a final decision from United is still awaited before the deal can be formally closed.
Ederson, 26, is reportedly eager to leave the Serie A side and has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils are currently discussing a five-year contract for the player, with a proposed transfer fee in the region of €45–50 million.
The structure of the payment is believed to be one of the final points under discussion.
The urgency of the situation was underscored on Friday, when Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino left Ederson out of his squad for the Serie A match against Fiorentina.
In a candid post-match interview, Palladino confirmed the reason behind the midfielder’s absence.
“Éderson didn’t play today because there are concrete negotiations with a top club,” Palladino stated, without naming United directly but making clear that a major move is imminent.
The Brazilian’s departure would mark a significant loss for Atalanta, where he has developed into a dynamic box-to-box midfielder known for his work rate, technical ability, and tactical intelligence.
For Manchester United, securing Ederson would bolster a midfield unit that has sought greater energy and depth, especially as the club balances domestic and European commitments.
With personal terms expected to pose no major hurdle, all eyes are now on whether United give the final green light to complete what would be a key signing for manager Erik ten Hag’s evolving squad.
