Many Nasarawa Communities Face Insecurity — Ex IGP Adamu

A former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has said many communities in Nasarawa State are still bedeviled with insecurity which has made access to farms impossible.

He also noted that youth unemployment, inadequate infrastructure and limited access to essential services, equally conspire to undermine the ability of citizens to function optimally and contribute to the development of the state.

He spoke yesterday after presenting his nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the forthcoming primaries.

He said his aspiration was therefore driven by urgent and compelling reasons to strengthen and sustain security across the state through a modern, intelligence-driven and community-based approach that guarantees the safety of lives and property.

“Security must not only be reactive, it must be preventive, inclusive, and people-centered,” he said.

He noted that having risen through the ranks to the top echelon of the Nigeria Police Force where confronted complex security challenges, strengthened institutional frameworks and coordinated national and international policing efforts, including collaboration with INTERPOL, he stands the chance of securing Nasarawa from all threats.

He also promised to reposition state’s economy for productivity and growth by harnessing its agricultural strength, solid minerals sector responsibly and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive among other initiatives.

He commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for sustaining internal democracy and providing a fair and credible platform for aspirants.

He called on all party members of the party and fellow aspirants to conduct themselves with dignity, respect, and a shared commitment to unity.

“Our differences must never weaken our collective purpose,” he noted.
