Mark-Led ADC Engages Legal Team Over Court’s Sacking of State Chairmen

The Senator David Mark-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved to seek legal redress following reports that a Federal High Court judgment sacked the party’s elected state chairmen.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said it had taken note of media reports concerning the ruling delivered by Justice Joyce O. Abdulmalik.

“Attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been drawn to media reports that the Federal High Court, presided over by Hon. Justice Joyce O. Abdulmalik, has sacked the elected, but yet to be inaugurated, State Chairmen of our party,” the statement read.

The party clarified that the emergence of new state executives through its recent congresses had not disrupted the tenure of the current officials.

“It would be recalled that we issued a statement shortly after the congresses stating that the congresses have not truncated the tenure of the current State Executive, which would run its full course before the newly elected State Executives are inaugurated,” Abdullahi stated.

Responding to the court development, the ADC said it has activated its legal machinery to examine the implications of the judgment.

“Nevertheless, the leadership of ADC has instructed its legal team to review the said judgement and advise the party appropriately,” the statement added.

The development comes amid ongoing internal and legal disputes within the party over its leadership structure and congress outcomes, with the latest court decision adding a new dimension to the unfolding situation.

Party sources indicated that the outcome of the legal review would determine the next line of action by the leadership, as the ADC continues to navigate the challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
