The 2024 Abuja Guards Polo Club Tournament came to a thrilling climax, with MAX Air winning big after beating STL 4-3 in a keenly contested final to claim the Legislative Shield Trophy of the two weeks long event.

The annual tournament, held from December 4th to 15th at the Nigerian Army Polo Resort in Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja, featured outstanding performances and fierce competitions with remarkable skills and polo artistries that engaged the crowd and kept the audience thrilled throughout.

Another highlight of the yearly polo fiesta was the Minister’s Cup match, where FK3 overcomed Musaco 6-5 to win the title. The game was even more exciting and thrilling for the spectators as Aminu-brothers, Abubakar Aminu (FK3) and Ahmed Aminu (Musaco), competed on opposite sides in a game that truly embodied sibling rivalry at its finest.

Abubakar Aminu applauded his brother for his performance, saying, “It was an honor to play against him. He gave it his all, and I look forward to us facing off again in the future.”

The tournament’s success was celebrated at the President’s dinner on December 14th, attended by sponsors, team players, stakeholders, and new members.

President of the Abuja Guards Polo Club, Abubakar Abdullahi, expressed his pride in the event’s success and its mission to celebrate Nigerian sportsmanship and inspire future generations.
