Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s special adviser on media, Ismaila Isah, has said that the press has strategically promoted good governance and fostered development in the state.
Isah, who stated this while appraising the governor’s remarkable achievements in one year in office, noted that the feat would not have been attained without the collaborative efforts of the media in the state.
According to the SA, Governor Ododo’s footprint in healthcare delivery, enhancement of qualitative and affordable education, and robust investment in the agricultural sectors in the last year are visible and commendable.
He noted that Governor Ododo administration’s move to spend over N7 billion to revamp an additional 88 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) across the 21 local government areas in the state shows his commitment to the health needs of the citizenry.
“The governor has also invested considerable resources in the upgrade, completion of ongoing projects and initiation of new ones in the state-owned higher institutions of learning, underscoring his determination to deliver quality education to the people of the state.
“You are all aware that the governor also recently disbursed over three hundred and sixteen million naira in bursary allowance and scholarship support to students of Kogi origin in tertiary institutions across the country. This is a courageous move to enhance all-around educational development in Kogi State.
“In agriculture, the governor has also provided the enabling environment for agricultural businesses to thrive by delivering imputes and credit facilities to farmers. This has received commendation from farmers across the state.
“I need not mention that Kogi remains one of the safest states in Nigeria today due to the governor’s robust security architecture and the synergy between his administration and the security agencies in the state. Motor vehicles and motorcycles have been provided to enhance surveillance and quick response. The operation Forward Base in Bagana in Omala LGA in particular, has restored peace in the area. It can only get better in the years ahead,” he said.
