The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has hailed ongoing military operations across the country, saying activities of oil thieves in the oil producing areas is being curtailed.

In a press release signed by the UAG’s convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion expressed confidence that troops will overcome the economic saboteurs and other security challenges.

This is as the group hailed the military for the establishment of a military base in Bokkos, Plateau State and redeployment of more troops to Ekiti.

The DHQ recently disclosed that in the month of January 2024, troops neutralized 266 terrorists, arrested 463 violent extremists/insurgents and rescued 116 kidnapped hostages.

According to UAG, “We are glad to hear that in the month of Jan 24, troops operating in the South-South, denied the oil thieves of the estimated sum of N2,821,503,962.

“This is a massive effort by the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The AFN onslaught against oil thieves is a big boost to the economic recovery plans of the present administration.

“Meanwhile, we are gladdened with the approval given by President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of a military barrack to be located in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) Mbar District Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“The deployment of a detachment of military personnel to Ekiti State to combat the activities of kidnappers, bandits and other criminals is a welcome development. This deployment will flush out criminals from their hide-outs in the forest reserves across the borders of Kogi, Kwara, Osun and Ondo states.

“We urge Nigerians to support the good work and sacrifices of troops under the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. We will definitely get out of this security challenge.

“We also use this opportunity to speak to the mind of terrorists, bandits and other criminals, the military will come for you. This is time to repent and turn a new leaf,” UAG added.
