The newly appointed chairman of Military Pensions Board (MPB), Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem, has assumed office.
His appointment comes after the recent shake-up in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other sister Services following the appointment of new Service Chiefs and the retirement of their predecessors.
The change in Service Chiefs created gaps in the military following compulsory retirement of members of Courses 39 and 40 and elements of Course 41 of the Nigeria Defence cademy (NDA).
A statement by the Public Relations Officer, Military Pensions Board, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, said AVM Abdulraheem’s assumption of office marked a significant step in the Board’s ongoing drive toward enhanced efficiency, transparency and improved service delivery for military retirees and their families.
According to him, AVM Abdulraheem brings with him an impressive record of professional excellence.
He is a member of the 42 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy and has served the Nigerian Air Force with distinction for nearly three decades.
He is a graduate of the prestigious National Defence College in Bangladesh and holds advanced academic qualifications, including a Master’s Degree in Security Management Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and another Degree in Accounting. His professional affiliations extend to global and national institutions such as the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the National Institute of Accountants.
Throughout his career, he has held critical command and financial management roles, ranging from Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Properties Limited to senior finance positions at the Defence Intelligence Agency and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
His depth of experience in organisational leadership, fiscal administration and strategic planning uniquely positions him to elevate pension management and strengthen the welfare system for veterans.
“The Board is confident that under his leadership, ongoing reforms will be deepened, stakeholder engagement will be strengthened, and the dignity and well-being of retired military personnel will remain at the forefront of operations,” the spokesman added.
