The Cross River State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has unveiled five strategic measures to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decisions were reached during a State Working Committee meeting held at the party secretariat in Calabar.
A statement issued by State Secretary Mr. Ekup Arong said the meeting was presided over by State Chairman Mr. Goddie Akpama.
Arong said,  “The meeting was attended by 19 members of the 43-member committee, which constituted the required quorum in line with Article 15, Section 3 of the party’s constitution”.
Also present were Deputy State Chairman Prince Henry Obok, members of the State Executive, ex-officio members, and the three state vice chairmen.
According to the statement, issued by NDC yesterday in Calabar at the end of the meeting, sighted  by LEADERSHIP, the five strategies adopted include the “immediate opening of a state party account to ensure transparent and accountable management of party finances”.
Others include, “registration and integration of support groups willing to participate in the party’s 2027 campaigns in Cross River State,” and the “creation of official email addresses and verified social media platforms for the state chapter.”
The SWC also approved “the appointment of state-wide coordinators for polling unit structures across the state’s 196 wards to strengthen grassroots mobilisation,” and “unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the State Working Committee led by Akpama”, in recognition of its commitment to unity and discipline.
Chairman Achibong thanked members for their support and assured that the SWC would “continue to provide inclusive, transparent and constitutionally guided leadership.”
He urged members to “begin mobilisation in their respective local government areas and wards.” Deputy Chairman Prince Henry Obok described the five strategies as “a clear indication of the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections,” while Arong said “implementation of the decisions would commence immediately” with another SWC meeting scheduled in the coming weeks.
The committee further “reaffirmed its loyalty to the National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress” and pledged the support of the Cross River chapter to “the vision and ideals of the party” as it prepares for the 2027 polls.
