Minister Intensifies Push For National Tree Planting Initiative

Minister of State for Environment, Iziaq Adekunle Salako, has emphasised the importance of environmental conservation initiatives in the country.

“We have received a proposal from the national body of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria, requesting a partnership for tree planting. We are currently reviewing the proposal and hopeful for collaboration,” Salako said in Abuja during the 50th National Convention (IJTEMA) of the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria (Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation).

Salako stressed the crucial need for greening efforts in Nigeria, a country known for its strong connection to nature.

The minister highlighted the significance of nature-based solutions in addressing climate-related challenges, many of which are human-made. Emphasizing the importance of proper management and utilisation of natural resources in mitigating these challenges.

He outlined the government’s top priority to enhance the Nigerian environment through various greening efforts, including promoting urban greenery, tree planting, flower cultivation, and discouraging harmful practices like cutting trees, particularly due to their impact on the environment.

Salako also stressed the commitment to environmental sustainability and proactive measures to protect and enhance the nation’s natural resources.

On his part, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Olatoye Folorunsho Abdulaziz, highlighted the role of the youth, specifically the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria in achieving developmental goals.

He stated that his message to the youth is to maintain consistency in doing good and to be resilient in their efforts.

Also, the national president of Majlis Khuddam Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisations (MKA) Nigeria, Abdur Roqib Akintunde Akinyemi, stated the significance of service as the core principle during the celebration of the 50th edition of the national convention of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Nigeria.

He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to service to humanity, rooted in acknowledging the worship of Allah and being dutiful to mankind.
