Nigerian workers have been urged to keep faith with President Bola Tinubu-led federal government on the new minimum wage being demanded by the organised labour in the country.
The minister of state for labour and employment Nkeiruka Chidubem Onyejeocha who stated this assured that the October 2, 2023 agreement entered into with the labour would be implemented to the letter.
Onyejeocha also called on wealthy Nigerians to support government efforts at banishing poverty from the land and create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, stressing the need for the involvement of informal sector operators in job creation as government alone cannot do it.
She spoke during the inauguration and dedication of the Adamimogo House, Ibadan, which houses the Adamimogo 105.1 FM, The Light Hotel and Event Centre established by the renowned clergyman, Prophet Sam Olu Alo.
The minister noted that Olu-Alo who is the Planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Adamimogo Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide has demonstrated that spiritual matters are very important but the physical matter must be added to it for the good of all.
This is just as Alo counselled the federal government to always Incentivize Nigerian youths who are embracing entrepreneurship, skill acquisition, trades and vocations to make them more attractive to them and remain on the job.
Harping on the new minimum wage, the minister said, “President Bola Tinubu is a principled person and is committed to the welfare of workers and indeed all Nigerians. Everything we have entered into agreement based on the agreement of October 2, 2023 we are doing it and we have resumed most of the things that are captured in the agreement and we met with organised labour and there is work in progress .”
