The Plateau State Chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has alleged the poisoning of eight cows around Kwi village in Riyom local government area.

MACBAN said the cows belonged to Ya’u Yusuf and Yahaya Sadari of Fass community in the area.

In a statement issued yesterday, the association’s state chairman, Yusuf Babayo, said they received reports of fresh coordinated attacks against herders and their livestock in Riyom and Barkin Ladi councils.

He said in a related development, three cows belonging to Shuaibu Ibrahim were shot dead around Kuru Gadabiyu area, near Bicichi community in Barkin Ladi LGA.

“These criminal acts are not only attacks on the economic survival of innocent Fulani families, but also a deliberate provocation aimed at escalating tension and insecurity in Plateau State,” he said.

Babayo pointed out that the targeted killing of livestock was a clear violation of the law and a direct threat to peace, food security and inter-communal coexistence.

MACBAN further confirmed that the affected victims have formally reported these incidents to the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and Operation Enduring Peace at both the respective LGA levels and their headquarters in Jos.
