Political leaders from Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State have reaffirmed that the House of Representatives seat for Yagba federal constituency must return to Mopamuro in 2027.
Meeting under the Mopamuro Political Elders Forum, the leaders described the demand as “non-negotiable and rooted in fairness, equity, and justice.”
They said Mopamuro had held the seat for only one term since 1999, while Yagba East and Yagba West enjoyed 12 years of representation.
The forum warned that any attempt to alter the rotation arrangement would amount to political injustice and threaten Yagba’s unity.
The leaders also pledged loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising his reform efforts and calling for continuity beyond 2027.
“We stand firmly behind President Tinubu and the APC. 2027 is Mopamuro’s turn, and that position remains unshakable,” the communiqué read.
The statement’s signatories included H.E. Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Brig.-Gen. Benjamin Ipinyomi (Rtd.), Chief Samuel Ola Akande, Engr. Edward Meseko, Dr. Alex Ayodele John (Delex), and Pastor Babagbemi Adejola, among others.
They urged the APC leadership at all levels to uphold justice and reward loyalty in candidate selection before the 2027 elections.
