The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) and the South-South Leadership Forum (SSLF), has applauded President Bola Tinubu for reconstituting a new board and management for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The two groups also expressed appreciation to Tinubu for retaining Dr. Samuel Ogbuku as the managing director and chief executive officer of the commission.
MOSIEND, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday by its national president, Kennedy West said retaining Ogbuku as NDDC managing director has shown that the president is a listening leader and sensitive to the aspirations of the Niger Delta region.
West said: “We are grateful to President Tinubu for the reconstitution of NDDC board and retaining Dr Samuel Ogbuku to lead the management team as managing director/chief executive officer.’’
“Mr President exercised great discretion in exempting NDDC from the dissolution of boards by retaining Ogbuku to keep running the NDDC until this revalidation.
“The stakeholders from the region applaud President Tinubu for this gesture which will ensure continuity in the development of the region.
“We congratulate Ogbuku and urge him to remain focused and leverage on his expertise as a development expert and justify the confidence reposed on him by the president.”
On his part, SSLF national coordinator, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe said by these acts, Tinubu has demonstrated his love and respect for the people of the Niger Delta region.
Sara-Igbe said: “Mr. President, by these acts, you have demonstrated your love and respect for the traditional rulers, chiefs, leaders and the people of the Niger Delta region. You listened to our appeals and prayers and acted accordingly. Thank-you.
“We assure you that with Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku, you have a reliable partner and a stabiliser, who has capacity and unlimited access to the nooks and crannies of the region, to the low and mighty, the aggrieved and silent actors and with tentacle spread across the region to ensure that there is peace and stability always in the Niger Delta region.”
