The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has confirmed the building collapse that resulted in the death of a mother and three Children at Karaoke Zaria City in the Zaria local government area of the state.
Recall that the building collapse killed a mother, Mallama Habiba Nuhu, and her biological children and a grandson, according to one Mallam Ahmed Ibrahim, a relative of the deceased.
KADSEMA Public Relations Officer, Philip Ahmadu Dominic, confirmed that the incident occurred between 3.30 and 4 a.m. on Wednesday, when a neighbouring mud house wall collapsed on the victims’ room.
“Mallam Nuhu Dogara, who is the husband and father to the deceased, was, however, recovered alive and rushed to the hospital for medical attention and was later discharged”, he disclosed.
Although sources said the heavy downpour might have caused the collapse. Dominic said the agency got the information late.
“Preparation is already in top gear for a visit to the scene today (Thursday) for an on-the-spot assessment and interaction with family members,” he said.
Ibrahim gave the names of the children and grandchildren who died as Hauwa’u Nuhu, Aina’u Nuhu and Za’uma, respectively, who were buried according to Islamic rites.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Hassan Munsir, could not confirm yesterday’s incident.
