A Mozambican beauty salon owner has gone viral after allegedly destroying her own salon during a heated confrontation in eMthonjaneni, KwaZulu-Natal, stating that she would rather leave with nothing than hand over the business.
Videos circulating online show the visibly upset woman pulling down posters, dragging salon equipment across the floor and ripping mirrors off the walls before smashing them.
The dramatic incident reportedly occurred after a South African business group allegedly demanded that she vacate the premises to make way for another salon operator.
In the viral footage, a man is heard telling her: “We’re not here to play games. Take your possessions and give us the keys to the building.”
Refusing to back down, the woman responded defiantly.
“I would rather you have nothing at all after I destroy everything. If you want to kill me, come with a gun and shoot me,” she said.
According to a representative of the business group, the woman had been invited to negotiate the handover of the salon to a South African who wanted to continue operating the business.
He alleged that the salon owner demanded R100,000 to relinquish the business, but after inspecting the equipment, they concluded it was worth about R10,000 and offered that amount instead.
The representative claimed it was after the offer was rejected that the woman allegedly began destroying the salon and its contents.
The incident has sparked intense debate across social media, with opinions divided. While some argued that the salon owner had every right to dispose of her property, others questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged eviction and the broader tensions involving foreign-owned businesses in South Africa.
As the video continues to trend, many have called for authorities to establish the full facts surrounding the dispute.
