The Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Ilorin, Kwara State has secured full accreditation for all the 13 academic programmes it submitted to the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, disclosed this yesterday during a briefing of newsmen in Ilorin, the state capital.
He described the feat as a major milestone in the young institution’s development.
Jimoh said the university, which received its provisional licence in June 2023, has moved swiftly from its formative stage to becoming a fully operational institution meeting national academic standards.
He stated that academic activities commenced in December 2023 after 15 programmes were presented for resource verification, noting that by November 2025, 13 programmes had undergone accreditation and all were approved.
“For clarity and public record, all 13 programmes presented for accreditation passed, representing a 100 percent success rate. This confirms that our curriculum quality, staffing strength, infrastructure and governance meet national standards,” he said.
Jimoh added that the feat has cleared the institution for mobilisation of graduates for the National Youth Service Corps scheme, a key benchmark for Nigerian universities.
He disclosed that the university recently underwent an institutional accreditation exercise by the NUC between April 20 and 22, 2026, as part of the process for upgrading from a provisional to a full operational licence.
According to him, the evaluation team commended the university’s facilities, academic delivery and administrative structure.
“It is important to state that among universities licensed in the same period in 2023, Muhammad Kamalud-deen University is the only institution that has achieved programme accreditation. This is a factual regulatory outcome and a strong indicator of our commitment to excellence,” he said.
He attributed the progress recorded by the institution to the support of key stakeholders, including the Ansarul-Islam Society of Nigeria, members of the governing council, and prominent Nigerians who contributed financially and technically to the institution’s growth.
Jimoh said the university is positioning itself as a centre for academic excellence, digital innovation and research, with plans to introduce postgraduate programmes and expand international collaborations.
