As he emerged as the 27th president and chairman of the Council of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Mallam Bature Ali Muhammad has pledged to strengthen the profession by addressing internal divisions, improving professional standards and promoting digital transformation.

He spoke in Umuahia, Abia State, at the weekend after he was elected into office at the 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NIESV.

He is the first Northerner to occupy the office in the 57-year history of the institution

Muhammad, who takes over from Dr Victor Alonge, also promised to focus on unity, professional standards and enhanced visibility for the institution.

The new president is a Fellow of NIESV and a Registered Surveyor and Valuer (RSV). Before his election, Muhammad served as 1st vice president and in other capacities in the Kaduna State branch of the institution.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Muhammad explained that his mission centred on capacity building, members’ welfare and increasing the visibility of the real estate surveying profession to align with international standards.

Some industry stakeholders said it is a well-deserved position, adding that Muhammad earned it purely by merit, dint of hard work, and astute professional excellence, espoused over the years in his professional practice and through his rising trajectory of leadership in NIESV.

One of the stakeholders, Mr Paul Ojenagbon, said, “Bature Muhammad is an eminently qualified and immensely experienced estate surveyor and valuer who boasts impressive academic and professional accomplishments garnered through the years.
