Kano Pillars forward and former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has showered praise on his teammates for their remarkable resilience and fighting spirit, after the club narrowly avoided relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in a tense conclusion to the 2025/26 season.

Despite suffering a 1–0 away loss to Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, the four-time Nigerian champions—popularly known as Sai Masu Gida—managed to retain their top-flight status.

The defeat did not undo their survival hopes, as they finished the campaign in 15th position with 48 points from 38 matches, enough to stay above the relegation zone in a tightly contested bottom half of the table.

In a heartfelt appreciation message, Musa acknowledged the difficult start to the season that saw the team struggle for form and consistency, but he insisted that collective character and determination turned things around.

“Despite our slow and unfamiliar start to the campaign, our darling club, Kano Pillars FC, showed resilience, character and determination to retain its NPFL status for another season,” Musa was quoted as saying.

The veteran striker also took time to thank the club’s supporters and football stakeholders in Kano State, whose backing he credited as crucial to the team’s survival.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support, prayers and encouragement from the good people of Kano and football lovers across the country,” he added.

Kano Pillars, who have won the Nigerian league title four times, faced one of their most difficult seasons in recent memory. However, Musa’s leadership and the team’s late-season resolve ensured that the famous blue-and-white jersey will remain in Nigeria’s top division for another year.
