Muslim Group Seeks End To Killings In Gaza, Demands Ceasefire

The Muslim Congress (TMC) has called for an immediate end to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the situation as a catastrophic and urging the global community to act swiftly.

TMC’s Amir (President), Alhaji AbdulWasi’i Bangbala, on Wednesday, decried the relentless bombardment, starvation, and destruction of Gaza.

According to him, this has resulted in over 59,100 deaths, the majority of whom are women and children.

While condemning the systematic targeting of civilians, the destruction of hospitals and schools, and the blockade that has cut off access to food, water, and medicine, Bangbala said, “This is not war; this is extermination, a devastating genocide,”.

The Islamic group expressed concern that the world is watching in “stunned silence” as an entire population faces annihilation.

“On Sunday, July 20, members of the organisation collaborated with the Muslim community in Agege area of Lagos to hold a peaceful protest, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“We marched, not in anger, but in sorrow, carrying the weight of a people’s suffering on our hearts,” the group said, urging the world to break its silence and take decisive action”, he said.

TMC further demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the opening of borders for humanitarian aid, and accountability for war crimes.

The group challenged the United Nations and the international community to act, stating, “How many more children must die before you say, ‘No more’?”

Calling for solidarity beyond religious lines, TMC appealed to “people of conscience everywhere, Muslims, Christians, Jews and all who believe in justice” to speak out.

“The blood of Gaza’s children cry out for justice, staining the hands of the world,” the group said.
