The EX-University of Ibadan Footballers Association (EXUIFA) has announced the appointment of Mutiu Adepoju to its Board of Trustees (BOT).
Adepoju, affectionately known as “The Headmaster” in football circles, is a highly respected Nigerian football icon. The former Super Eagles midfielder was instrumental in Nigeria’s 1994 Africa Cup of Nations victory and represented the nation at three FIFA World Cups, earning acclaim for his discipline, leadership, and technical prowess.
In a statement by Edwin Evbie, the Association’s President, EXUIFA praised Adepoju’s consistent support for their mission, highlighting his encouragement, humility, and dedication to youth and football development. The Association expressed confidence that his extensive experience and international perspective would bolster their vision and credibility.
“His passion for advancing football, particularly at the grassroots level, aligns perfectly with our goals,” the statement noted. “We are honoured to welcome a figure of his stature to the Board of Trustees.”
Adepoju’s appointment follows the departure of Pastor Adebayo Gbadebo, whom EXUIFA thanked for his service and contributions.
With Adepoju now on board, EXUIFA aims to enhance its impact and continue fostering excellence in football within its community and beyond. The Association encourages members and the wider football community to extend a warm welcome to the new trustee.
