The wife of slain Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman of Fiidi Council Ward in Makurdi local government area of Benue State, Mrs. Ngodoo Igbu Terhemen, has said her husband, Hon. Igbu Job Terhemen, was injected with substances suspected to be poison all over his body.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Sunday in Makurdi yesterday, Mrs. Ngodoo who relived the last moments of her husband, said she saw her husband unconscious late night with wounds and syringe marks on his shoulder, hands and when taken to the hospital he was confirmed dead within a few minutes.
She said, “My husband was a secondary school teacher and after closing from work in the evening, he told me he was going for a meeting. Till late night I didn’t see him and I was awake. It was in the late hours I heard a strange sound outside. I came out and saw my husband on the ground.
“I took him inside room and saw holes of syringe on his hands and shoulder. They injected him with substances suspected to be poison. He was not talking normally again. With the assistance of neighbours we took him to a hospital and doctors confirmed him dead. My three children and I are in pains and shock.
My husband didn’t deserve this painful death.
“He was a very good man and a gentleman who was loved by people. We are calling on security agencies to thoroughly investigate his death and bring the perpetrators to book. We are demanding for justice.”
The NDC in Benue State had on Wednesday alleged that Hon. Igbu Job Terhemen was tied with ropes injected with substances suspected to be poisonous and abandoned near his residence before he died.
According to the NDC, Igbu was attacked by suspected hoodlums who later abandoned him near the NNPC depot along Makurdi-Otukpo Road.
The party said he was later found in an almost unconscious state and was unable to speak or communicate with anyone before he eventually passed away.
The state chairman of the party, Ohini Ojegbe, described the killing as a “broad-daylight evil” and called on security agencies to urgently investigate the incident, apprehend all those responsible and ensure that they are brought to justice.
