MyBettingSites Nigeria, one of the country’s fastest-growing independent sports betting comparison platforms, is distributing ₦1,000,000 every week of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage through a free public prediction competition — no entry fee, no betting account required.

By MyBettingSites Nigeria  |  June 2026

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup prepares to kick off across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, a Nigerian digital enterprise has structured one of the country’s most accessible sporting competitions around the tournament — and put ₦3,000,000 of prize money behind it.

MyBettingSites Nigeria, which operates as an independent comparison and review platform for the country’s licensed sports betting industry, has launched the World Cup Weekly Jackpot: a three-week free prediction contest spanning the entire group stage of the tournament, from June 11 to June 27. Each week, ₦1,000,000 is on offer to any participant who correctly predicts the outcome of seven selected World Cup fixtures.

The competition is free to enter. No deposit is required. No sports betting account is needed. Any Nigerian with internet access can participate.

A Nigerian platform leveraging a global moment

The sports betting industry in Nigeria has grown substantially over the past decade. With over 60 million Nigerians estimated to engage with sports prediction markets in various forms — from casual predictions among friends to registered accounts on licensed platforms — the sector represents one of the most active consumer digital markets in sub-Saharan Africa.

MyBettingSites Nigeria sits within that ecosystem not as a bookmaker but as a consumer information service. The platform reviews, compares, and rates over 40 licensed bookmakers operating in Nigeria, helping users make informed decisions about where to bet, which bonuses carry genuine value, and which platforms carry credible regulatory standing. The site is operated by Leadstar Media, a Swedish digital media group with affiliate operations across multiple regulated markets globally.

The World Cup Jackpot is a deliberate effort to build public engagement beyond the platform’s core affiliate audience. By making the competition free and structuring it around Nigeria’s existing football culture, the platform is positioning itself as a community resource during the biggest football event of the decade.

“This is not a promotion for any particular bookmaker. It is a standalone competition for Nigerian football fans,” the platform stated. “The World Cup comes around every four years. We wanted every Nigerian who loves football to have a reason to participate, regardless of whether they have ever placed a bet.”

How the competition is structured

The group stage of the 2026 World Cup runs across three matchday windows. Each window corresponds to one week of the jackpot competition:

  • Week 1 (June 11–17): Matchday 1 across all 12 groups. Prize: ₦1,000,000.
  • Week 2 (June 18–23): Matchday 2. Higher stakes as some teams fight to stay in contention. Prize: ₦1,000,000.
  • Week 3 (June 24–27): The decisive final matchday, where all matches within each group kick off simultaneously. Prize: ₦1,000,000.

Each week, seven matches are selected from that week’s fixtures. Participants predict one of three outcomes for each match — home win, draw, or away win — and submit all seven predictions in a single entry before the weekly deadline. Only participants who get all seven correct win the jackpot. If no one gets all seven right, the week closes without a winner. There is no rollover between rounds.

Week 1 fixtures

The seven matches selected for the Week 1 jackpot draw from across the 24 opening-day fixtures and include some of the tournament’s most anticipated early contests:

  • Brazil vs Morocco — Group C, Saturday 13 June
  • USA vs Paraguay — Group D, Friday 12 June
  • Germany vs Ivory Coast — Group E, Sunday 14 June
  • France vs Senegal — Group I, Tuesday 16 June
  • Argentina vs Algeria — Group J, Tuesday 16 June
  • Spain vs Cape Verde — Group H, Monday 15 June
  • Netherlands vs Japan — Group F, Sunday 14 June

Predictions for Week 1 must be submitted before 14:00 UTC on Thursday 11 June, ahead of the tournament’s opening match.

Economic significance of Nigerian digital sports media

The emergence of platforms like MyBettingSites Nigeria reflects a broader maturation of the Nigerian digital economy. The sports betting comparison segment — platforms that do not take bets themselves but earn revenue through affiliate referrals to licensed operators — represents a growing layer of the ecosystem that generates employment, drives digital content creation, and contributes indirectly to the tax base of licensed operators they promote.

The regulatory landscape in Nigeria has itself shifted considerably in the past two years. The November 2024 Supreme Court ruling confirmed state-level authority over gaming regulation, placing primary oversight with bodies such as the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) rather than a unified federal regulator. MyBettingSites Nigeria tracks these developments actively and publishes guidance on which operators carry state-level licences, giving Nigerian bettors a clearer basis for evaluating platform legitimacy.

In that context, a ₦3,000,000 prize fund distributed over three weeks to ordinary Nigerian participants — with no betting required to enter — represents an unusual form of consumer goodwill in a sector sometimes scrutinised for its promotional practices.

How to enter

The competition is open at mybettingsites.com/ng/promotions/mybettingsites-nigeria-world-cup-jackpot. Participants can also find the competition via a banner on the MyBettingSites Nigeria homepage. The Week 2 entry form opens after the Week 1 deadline closes on June 11, and the Week 3 form opens on June 18.

Winners are notified by email and announced on the MyBettingSites Nigeria website within 48 hours of the final match in each week’s selection.
