In preparation for the implementation of the N28.7 trillion Appropriation Bill signed into law by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for spending in 2024, the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) has proactively updated its directors, heads of departments, and other spending officers on the essential procedures of the procurement process.
A press statement, signed by Mr. Abu I. Michael, the Head of Press and Public Relations at OSGoF, revealed that the Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Abuduganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin, stressed the importance of the procurement process in the expenditure of public funds.
He declared this during the opening of an in-house training organised by the Procurement Unit of his Office in Abuja.
Adebomehin noted the technical nature of the procurement process, stressing the need for it to be clearly understood for effective application.
He commended the procurement unit for organising the training, especially for the management staff and all other spending officials at OSGoF.
The training, facilitated by Ajayi Ambibola, the Head of the Procurement Unit at OSGoF, focused on Quantity/Bill of Survey and Mapping, addressing aspects such as preparing the Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and key considerations in the process.
Ambibola also stressed the importance of adequate knowledge of projects, site visitation, and market surveys.
The OSGoF had defended a proposed budget of over N4.1 billion before the National Assembly, allocating over N2.4 billion for various critical projects related to the country’s defense and security, as well as the expansion and effective distribution of physical infrastructures.
