N8m Up For Grabs At CDS Independence Day Basketball Championship

A total money prize of N8 million is up for  grabs as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Independence Day Basketball Championship dunks off in Abuja on Wednesday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

The tournament, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, October 2 to Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Mo Arena, Wuse Zone 5 Abuja, is being organised by Chief of Defence Staff,General C.G Musa with an impressive 8 million naira prize purse and promises to be an exciting display of skills and athleticism.

According to the organisers, the championship aims to promote unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among Nigerian basketball teams, while also showcasing the country’s rich basketball talent.

The breakdown of the prize money released by the organisers will see the winners of the five day championship smile to bank with N4m, while the first and second runners up will go home with N2.5m and and N1.5m respectively.

The championship will feature a round-robin group stage, followed by knockout stages. The teams will compete in two groups of five teams each, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
