If there were any doubts about Nancy Isime’s acting range, Blood Sisters is quickly putting them to rest. As the film continues to make waves in cinemas, the actress has opened up about the emotional and physical lengths she went to to embody her character, Kemi, a role so intense that it left both her and members of the crew deeply affected.

Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Kate Henshaw and Blessing Obasi revealed that she became so immersed in the role that she was often “broken from the weight of Kemi’s reality” and withdrew into herself between takes.

In an emotional reflection, Isime revealed that she was “broken from the weight of Kemi’s reality” and often retreated into herself between takes. The role consumed her so much that she asked the production team not to offer her food, water or even check on her while filming certain scenes.

During one of the film’s most difficult moments, actress Kate Henshaw approached her in tears after a take, simply saying, “Thank you for going there.”

Isime also recalled wanting to remain alone while shooting the film’s haunting “black hole” scenes, becoming so immersed in character that she barely wanted interaction with anyone on set. Producer Blessing Jessica Obasi was visibly worried for her, especially after the actress’s fingers bled from repeatedly writing on a wall during filming.

The behind-the-scenes revelations have only deepened fans’ appreciation for Isime’s performance, with many praising her commitment and emotional vulnerability. Sometimes great acting isn’t just about playing a role; it’s about disappearing into it. And by all accounts, Nancy Isime didn’t just play Kemi; she became her.
