NANS Hails Resolution Of Scholarship Payment Backlog

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, for the swift steps taken towards the commencement and continuation of payments of outstanding federal government scholarship awards to Nigerian students.

The issue of outstanding scholarship payments has been a critical concern, following numerous complaints from students awaiting payment of their scholarship entitlements.

However, in a statement yesterday, NANS National Public Relations Officer, Comr. Obidah David said the development represents an important response to one of the pressing welfare concerns raised by the students’ body.

“NANS particularly appreciates the Honourable Minister for his responsiveness, commitment and willingness to engage with issues affecting the welfare and academic progress of Nigerian students.

“We also acknowledge the broader commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR towards strengthening student financing and ensuring that financial constraints do not unnecessarily keep Nigerian students away from the classroom.

“While we commend the progress made, NANS urges the relevant authorities to sustain the payment process until all verified outstanding scholarship beneficiaries receive their full entitlements, while also strengthening the system to prevent the accumulation of future backlogs.”
