The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) FCT, will host the first ever Abuja Performing Arts Summit (APAS) this September.
The summit is geared towards “reshaping the narrative of performing arts in the capital city, deepen industry conversation, and align with national creative economy goals,” said the chapter’s Chairman, Jerry Adesewo.
Themed ‘Charting New Paths: Strengthening The Performing Arts Ecosystem in the FCT’, the summit will convene and engage theatre practitioners, dancers, festival curators, educators, cultural agencies, and creative entrepreneurs in critical dialogue, strategic planning and collaborative development.
A seven-man committee including co-chairs, actor and director, Patrick Otoro, thespian and lecturer and ex-deputy president of NANTAP National, Esther Onwuka, and Sandra A. Bello (secretary), Abdufatai Otori, Victor Nwejinaka, William Obasi, and Nwanyimma Okeana was inaugurated. The committee will attend to the development of a programme framework, partnership mobilization, curation of speakers and performers at the summit, and overseeing logistics for the event.
Similarly, the chapter announced the creation of its Advisory Council, comprising its revered and accomplished veterans. Thespians – Dotun Osunsanya (fta), Lantana Ahmed (fta), actor – Francis Duru, Esther Onwuka (fta), will offer guidance, support and strategic direction to the current FCT NANTAP executive.
