Technical officials of the National Sports Association for Judiciary (NASAJ) have expressed satisfaction with the standard of sporting facilities in Akwa Ibom State, describing them as world-class and suitable for the upcoming Chief Justice of Nigeria Games.
The President of NASAJ, Mr. Sunday Noah, who led a delegation of officials on an inspection tour across various centres in the state, made the remarks after assessing the facilities.
The delegation was conducted around the facilities by the Head of Facilities in the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Sports, Mr. Victor Owokure, accompanied by the Director of Organizing in the ministry, Mrs. Margaret Ekpo.
Among the facilities inspected were the running tracks, scrabble, chess, and ayo halls at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium; the swimming pool and synthetic football pitch at the Uyo Township Stadium; the volleyball and handball courts at the West Itam Sports Centre; and the table tennis and badminton hall at the State Judiciary Headquarters, all in Uyo.
Mr. Noah expressed delight with what he described as top-notch infrastructure.
He said: “Let me say that we are deeply impressed with the standard of the sport facilities we have seen in all the places visited in Akwa Ibom. The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is a world-class facility. With what we have seen, I am optimistic that our athletes will perform at an optimal level and that we will have colourful, memorable, and successful games.
“On behalf of NASAJ, I want to congratulate the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for maintaining these facilities and for granting us approval to use them for our games. If all states in the Federation can invest in sports infrastructure at this level, sports in Nigeria will advance to enviable heights within and beyond Africa.”
The preliminary rounds of the 2025 Chief Justice of Nigeria Games will begin in Uyo on Friday, 21 November 2025, featuring football matches and other events, ahead of the official opening ceremony scheduled for Monday, 24 November 2025, at the Uyo Township Stadium.
