The Migili Cultural Development Association (MCDA), the apex socio-cultural body of the Migili Nation, has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule, to consider nominating a Migili son for the position of deputy governor in the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

Speaking to journalists in Lafia, MCDA national president, Dr Abu Isaac Ishaq, said the appeal reflects the united position of Migili traditional rulers, youth, students, and elders who have resolved to seek equitable representation in the state’s leadership.

“Since the return of democracy in 1999, the Migili people have consistently delivered block votes during elections, yet we have been denied key positions, including that of Deputy Governor,” Dr. Ishaq stated.

“We are a peaceful, law-abiding, and organized people. We were among the first to settle in Lafia Division. This time, we are respectfully asking His Excellency, as leader of the APC in Nasarawa State, to consider the Migili Nation for the Deputy Governor slot.”

Dr. Ishaq disclosed that Migili traditional rulers have embarked on consultations with other traditional institutions across the state to solicit support for the project, describing it as “a collective Migili aspiration.”

He further pledged the community’s political support: “If given the Deputy Governor slot, we will galvanize all our votes to ensure that the APC wins in 2027.”

According to MCDA, the Migili/Koro people are spread across five local government areas — Lafia, Doma, Obi, Awe, and Keana — with an estimated voting strength of 50,000. Migili youth stakeholders had earlier cited a broader presence across Lafia, Obi, Awe, Keana, and Karu, with over 120,000 voters.

The association emphasized that the request is rooted in fairness, inclusion, and the desire for all ethnic nationalities in Nasarawa State to feel a sense of belonging in governance.
