Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed the reappointment of Barr. Ayuba Wandai Usman as chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).
His confirmation was announced by the speaker, Hon. Danladi Jatau after scaling screening at the plenary in Lafia on Tuesday.
LEADERSHIP earlier reported that Governor Abdullahi Sule had renominated Wandai as the SIEC boss following the expiration of his tenure.
The speaker had announced Wandai’s renomination during the plenary on Monday, September 9.
Our correspondent reports that the motion for Wandai’s confirmation was moved by the majority leader, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara.
Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the minority leader of the House, seconded the motion.
In their various contributions during the screening exercise, members from the nominee’s LG, Nasarawa, Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, Nasarawa Central APC and Hon. Onarigu Onah Kana, SDP Udege Loko urged their colleagues to screen and confirm Wandai as NASIEC chairman to consolidate on his past achievements considering his experience and integrity.
The House unanimously confirmed Wandai as NASiEC chairman.
After his screening and confirmation for the SIEC job, the speaker urged him to live above board while discharging his duties.
“We hereby screened and confirmed the appointment of Barr. Ayuba Wandai Usman as Chairman, Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC)” he said.
The speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Gov. Sule for his further necessary action.
