Nasarawa Assembly Constitutes 24 Standing Committees

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has announced 24 chairman of its standing committees to preside over the affairs of the house in the sub-committees. Speaker of the House Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced the names of the committees and their heads during the house plenary in Lafia, on Monday.

According to him, the rules and business committee is to be chaired by Daniel Ogazi; while Barr. Esson Mairiga is to head the judiciary committee, with women affairs being chaired by Hajara Danyaro Ibrahim.

He said the public complaints and petition committee is to be chaired by Luka Iliya Zhekaba who is the minority leader of the House. while Danladi Jatau, the deputy majority leader, is to head the committee on education.

The speaker announced Mohammed Garba Isimbabi as chairman of youth and sports committee, while housing and environment is to be headed by Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, the majority leader of the House.

Similarly, SDGs is to be chaired by Onarigu Onah Kana; local government and chieftaincy affairs is to be led by Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, while NASIEC is to be headed by Jacob Ajegina Kudu.

Also, the committee on works and transport is to be chaired by Suleiman Yakubu Azara; information committee is to be headed by John Ali, while finance and appropriation is to be led by Hudu A Hudu,

The chairman, House committee on land is Emmanuel Manding; Solomon Akwashiki, public account; Larry Ven Bawa, health and Musa Gude, urban development board.

Agriculture committee is to be chaired by Dr Peter Akwe, while Ovey John is to chair water resources, with capital market, commerce and industry now under the headship of Mohammed Onyaki.

The House welfare committee chairman is Aliyu Yusuf Chunbaya; pilgrims is to be chaired by Ibrahim Aliyu Nana; projects monitoring is to be headed by the deputy speaker, Abel Yakubu Bala and selection and appointments is to be chaired by the speaker of the House.

The speaker urged members of the various committees to discharge their duties without fear or favour.

“We have been sworn in for two or close to three months now, hence the need for the constitution of these Standing Committees to pilot the affairs of the House.

“I urge you to live above board while discharging your duties. We must protect the integrity of this Institution by ensuring that the right things are done for the betterment of our people,” he said.
