Qualified technicians of Nasarawa State extraction could get a monthly salary from the $200 million lithium processing plant established by Jiuling Lithium Mining Company in Endo, Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this during an inspection of the progress of the firm’s construction site.
He appealed to the state’s citizens, especially the youths, to study necessary technical courses that would allow them to work in the sprouting Chinese mining companies in the state.
“While I was in China, I sought to find out how this industry will benefit both Nasarawa State, the people of Nasarawa Local Government, and indeed, the people of Udege Development Area. I asked them the questions, and they started with employment.
“They said they would employ all our citizens, exceptionally qualified technical people, and promised to pay them a minimum of N500,000.
That is what I have confirmed right now.
“We have seen a few of the engineers. I want to call on our people because most of the technical people we have seen are from other states, some from Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau.
“While I am thrilled and excited that there are people from Nasarawa State, I would like our people to use the opportunity to study careers that would allow them to work in places like this,” he said.
He expressed happiness over the work progress on the state’s Chinese $200 million lithium factory.
He said the Governor’s recent trip to China prompted the inspection visit. During his visit, he visited the headquarters of Jiuling in Yichun, China, and met the company’s chairman, who promised to establish a similar industry in Nasarawa State.
