A first-class monarch, HRH Alh. Usman Abdullahi and the immediate speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alh Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi have commended Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Nigerian Army for halting incessant killings in Toto local government area of the state.
They gave the commendation at the palace of the traditional ruler, who is the Ohimegye Opanda, shortly after the Eid-el – Fitr prayer on Wednesday in Umaisha, Toto local government area of the state.
The traditional ruler also acknowledged the relentless efforts of the local vigilantes in tackling the security challenges within the local government area.
LEADERSHIP had reported that three soldiers and two vigilante group members were killed in a February attack by suspected militia in Katakpa community, Toto local government area.
The military and vigilante group members were ambushed and killed while returning from a clearance operation in the area, it was gathered.
The village head, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmadu and 13 others lost their lives in a fresh attack on the community a week later.
The traditional ruler said the incessant attacks and bloodletting has ebbed following proactive interventions by Governor Sule and the military.
He urged the people to shun acts that could undermine the fragile peace being currently enjoyed in the area.
Also, the former speaker appealed to politicians to refrain from instigating crises which will lead to loss of lives for their selfish interest.
While appreciating the effort of the governor in restoring peace to the area, Balarabe Abdullahi condoled with army authorities and the families of the three soldiers, the vigilante group members as well as civilians who lost their lives in the attacks.
