Nasarawa State government has commenced the bid-opening process for the construction of 30 new secondary schools under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project.

The ceremony, held in Lafia, was led by the state commissioner for Education, Dr John Mamman, who stated that the initiative aims to expand access to quality education, empower adolescent girls and equip young people with skills for sustainable livelihoods and productive careers.

The event was attended by key stakeholders including heads of ministries, departments and agencies, development partners, and World Bank officials, underscoring the administration’s commitment to a transparent, credible, and inclusive procurement process.

“The opening of these contract bids reflects the commitment of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration to transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in governance,” Dr. Mamman said.

He added that the state government remains steadfast in supporting AGILE as a strategic intervention to secure a brighter future for the girl-child through improved access to education and skills acquisition.

The Commissioner assured that all awarded contracts will undergo strict monitoring and supervision to ensure quality execution in line with approved specifications and standards.

State AGILE Project Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Aliyu Isoga, described the bid opening as a “significant milestone” in the programme’s implementation in Nasarawa State. She urged traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders to take ownership of the projects to guarantee sustainability and maximise benefits for girls in their communities.
